Human Machine Interaction
Section outline
-
Before the first class, you have to:
Task 1 — Choose your domain (e.g., rehabilitation, sport, aging, ergonomics, etc.)
Task 2 — Bring one example of an interface (an app, a wearable device, a rehabilitation device, a robot, a sports training device, a musical interface, a hospital device) with answers to the following questions: Who is the user? What does the machine sense? What does the machine return to the user? What movement does the interface try to guide, measure, improve, or constrain? What makes the interface good or bad?
Task 3 — Write a one-sentence project seed “I would like to design an interface that helps [type of user] to [perform, learn, recover, coordinate, avoid, or improve something] in [context].”
Example: “I would like to design an interface that helps older adults improve walking stability at home through adaptive rhythmic feedback.” This sentence will evolve across the course and become the basis of the final one-slide presentation.
